Watergate Bay is a two mile long stretch of west facing golden sands at the foot of steep cliffs. It is a large, open bay and frequently picks up swell from the Atlantic and is popular with families and surfers. Watergate Bay is a 15 minute drive from Newquay or a 45 minute walk.

  1. If you’re on the North Coast of Cornwall this is a must visit beach. It gets very busy in the summer but has plenty of sand to go around. It is also great in the winter for a romantic beach stroll; there are caves, rock pools, golden sands, good surf and excellent facilities. My guilty pleasure is nipping down there at the end of the summer for a spot of muscle picking; fresh Cornish muscles, it doesn’t get much better!!
